Digital Inspiration with Tya

Hello Lori Whitlock Fans! It's Tya - and I have some digital inspiration up on the blog today for you. I hope you are all having a fabulous summer. It is SOOO HOT where I live and so my family is finding any way to cool off! I was going through some of my older photos and came across this one of my kids when they were younger. Nothing is funner for a child than swinging in a hammock. I remember this day so well. I ran inside for a moment to get more towels and I came out to find all the kids snuggled up together in the hammock. It was so sweet and I am glad I have photos to record this sweet memory. Here is my layout:
I used the following products for my layout:
-Summer Fun Collection
-Basic Shape Masks
-LW Clementine Font

Thanks for stopping by today! Hopefully I have inspired you to scrapbook some of your summer time memories! Happy Crafting!

PageMaps Sketch Layout - Doodlebug Kitten Smitten

Hi Everyone!  It's Tya and I am up on the blog today with my PageMaps Sketch Challenge Layout! The Doodlebug Design Team were all given great sketches to play with from the July PageMaps release.   I received this fabulous sketch from Becky Fleck...

https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5y2YKPSF0M4/WVZapUzkWLI/AAAAAAAAQ8s/rkOWISMVtUUhOfzDJXBUmuXJFH7l6S4jwCLcBGAs/s1600/pagemap650.jpg

Here is my take on the sketch:
I am the biggest fan of Becky's sketches - in fact - I rarely start out creating a layout without a sketch in mind. This was a really fun sketch to work with!
I admit it - I am a cat lady - I only have one kitty named Hobbes so I can't be considered crazy yet right? :) He has been in our family for 17 years now and I just adore him to pieces. He is a snugly guy and I recently captured these photos of him and I mid-cuddle. We had just gotten home from being on vacation for a week and he just hopped up on the bed and gave me the sweetest loves. I am glad I caught this memory. Here are some close ups of the page:

To make my layout I started with some pattern papers from the Kitten Smitten collection. How cute are the kitty heads all over that paper right? My title is made from one of the Odds and Ends pieces. The black paw print is from the Odds and Ends as well. I added a scallop stripe pattern paper strip and a polka dot paper strip and layered them right under my photos. I added a ric rac black sticker from the This and That sticker sheet to the top of the paper strips.

Next I used some more ephemera pieces from the Odds and Ends to make a little cluster of embellishments. The kitty, pillow and hearts are all from that pack. The pink yarn ball is a sticker from the icon sticker sheet. I added a black matte sprinkle on to one of the hearts as well. My journaling was hand written on the notebook paper Odds and Ends ephemera and the So Happy Together banner is a sticker from the This and That sticker sheet. I tied some black and white bakers twine to the top of the journal spot.

The banner up on the left top corner was made using some banner pieces from the Odds and Ends. I strung them on some black and white bakers twine. I added 2 star stickers from the This and That sticker sheet to the ends.
Finally in the upper right corner, I added another little cluster of embellishments featuring a cute pink kitty in a box, and a aqua heart die cut. Then I added the cute Kitty tab sticker. I finished embellishing the heart with a yellow matte sprinkle.

That's all there is to it! Thank you Becky for providing the adorable sketch! It is one that I will for sure be revisiting very soon! Hopefully I have inspired you all to try it as well! Have a great weekend!

Transatlantic Travel Card

Hi there everyone! It's Tya and I am up on the blog today to share with you my project featuring the amazing Transatlantic Travel line. This is a beautiful line filled with rich colors and vintage looking icons, and I really liked making this card showcasing a few of my favorite pieces.
(insert Tya Smith Transatlantic Blog photo here)

I started with a 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch kraft card base and then added a piece of black cardstock of the same size on top of the kraft card. I used a piece of pattern paper from the 6x6 paper pad next and then started layering  different elements on to the card. On the left side of the card I added a script card from the 3x4 Journaling Cards. I then added the polaroid ephemera piece to the card. I popped the front section of the polaroid up for some dimension. I added the airplane sticker and the fluer de lis circle from the Sticker Set to the card
(insert Tya Smith Transatlantic photo 1 here)
I continued decorating the card with 3 banner pieces from the Ephemera pack and glued them under the frame. I added the Every Day is A Journey sticker and a tag that says Explore on it that I got from the Frames and Tags Ephemera. I decorated the tag with a tan button, tied with some black twine.
(insert Tya Smith Transatlantic photo 2 here)

Father's Day Card Inspiration

Hello everyone! I am up on the blog today sharing with you a fun Father's Day card. I loved the cheery, bright colors in the  Carta Bella Toy Box line- so I used a few items from that collection to make this card:

To make this card I used a kraft cardstock base and then started adding some of my favorite papers from the 6x6 paper pad. To make my title - I got a little creative with one of my metal die cuts. I used the Dream Big die cut and used the "d's" and the "a" from the word "dream" I cut the letters from some solid red paper and then added them onto the back of one of the tags from the Frames and Tags Ephemera.  I added a small banner from the Chipboard Accents under the title. It says "favorite"  - perfect sentiment for Dad. I used 2 star die cuts from the Dream Big die as well and cut them from some sheet music and red star papers from the 6x6 pad.

I absolutely love the mini paper fans, so I had to add one of them to my card. I cut a circle from the Stitched Circle Nesting Die Set and glued it onto the front of the fan. I added an enamel #1 shape to the circle from the Toy Box Enamel Shapes. And how cute is the toy soldier standing at attention - I loved adding him for a little manly touch. He is from the Element Sticker sheet.

To finish the card I added some brown twine and wrapped it around a piece of blue paper. If you look closely you can see that I embossed this paper with the Mini Triangles embossing folder. The final touch was a grey button tied with a twine bow and glued to the card.

This was such a fun card to make and I am so excited to give it to my dad. It's always so fun to use themed kits in a new and different way. The Toy Box collection was so fun to work with! Happy crafting and Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!

Supplies:
-Kraft Cardstock
-Foam Tape, foam squares
-tan  twine
-grey button

Hats Off Collection - Money Holders by Tya

Hi everyone - I am happy to be here on the blog today to share with you my projects using the amazing Hats Off line. Let's be real - there is no greater gift to a grad than some cold, hard cash! I wanted to share with  you  a couple of fun ways to give you favorite grad a little moolah! I got out my trusty Silhouette and cut out these 2 money holders

The first holder is this fun slider type money holder. I used this file : Gift Money Holder Card
I cut the holder out with some black cardstock and then added some of the fun pattern papers to the card and tag.
The front of the card is decorated with some stickers from the This and That sticker sheet. I also added a Diploma Doodlepop to the sticker and a star sticker as well. I added a black sprinkle to the center of the star for some dimension. I cut a strip of striped paper from the border sheet and notched the ends and stuck them under the sticker to make it look like an award.
I also added the "yippee" tab sticker and a star Cute Clip to the top portion of the cover. I also added a scallop border sticker from the This and That sticker sheet to the top and bottom of the star paper.

The large tag pulls out and holds the money. To decorate the tag I added a double bow of black and white bakers twine to the top.

The next project is a cool fun fold card. I just love making these! I used this file to make it: Hidden Box Gatefold Card. This card was super easy to put together. I just recommend when putting the belly band on to hold it on the top of the card and then wrap it around the back. I cut the box out using some grey cardstock and added the cute graduation icon pattern paper to the outside flaps.
I decorated the belly band with a sticker from the This and That sticker sheet. The pencil and large silver star are from the Odds and Ends pack. The small white star is a sticker from the Icon Sticker sheet and and small silver star is from the Sprinkle Shapes. I added a large silver jewel to the center of the sticker. The sticker is popped up with foam tape onto the belly band that I cut using some black cardstock. I added the flash icon paper from the border strips pattern paper.

Here is what the box looks like when the belly band is taken off and the box is popped open. The money is placed on the inside of the box, but it folds up into a card. It's such a fun card that packs a lot of punch!
That's all I have today - hopefully I have inspired you to make up a few of these for those special grads in your life. Have a great weekend!

Go See Explore Layout

Hi everybody! It's Tya and it's my turn up on the blog today to share with you my layout featuring the awesome Go, See, Explore line! What a great set this is! I love the bright colors and fun icons. It sure made creating this layout extra fun!
To make my layout I started out with 2 pieces of kraft cardstock and then layered the A View of the World, and Let's Pack and Go papers for the base. I also added a couple of strips of You Got a Postcard paper in the center of the papers. I mounted all of my photos on some white cardstock and layered some of the Tickets paper behind my main photo on the left side of the paper. I added a few photo corners cut from black cardstock with my Silhouette to the corners of a few photos as well.

Let me show you a few close ups of the embellishments and journaling:

I started up in the corner with a globe sticker, a chipboard sentiment, a geotag sticker and a pearl brad. A few enamel stars and a brown twine bow finish this corner off.

In the bottom left corner is a fun cluster of pieces from the Frames and Tags Ephemera, some chipboard pieces ,a sticker and a globe brad with some more twine tied behind it. The postcard is cut from the 6x6 pad. More enamel starts are added here too.

To make my journaling spot, I cut a label out of Green Solid paper  with my Silhouette. I did another label and typed up my journaling. I used the Print and Cut feature on my Silhouette and added the journaling to the green base.

On the journaling spot I left a space big enough to add a Mini Paper fan for some dimension. I added a banner sticker to the paper fan. I thought the sentiment was really fun.

On the top right side of the layout I added a few different tags from the Ephemera and a sticker sentiment. I added a chipboard star to one of the tags and sprinkled more enamel stars around.

Finally , on the right side of the layout, I made another cluster of embellishments here and used more tags, chipboard, brads and stickers. I again finished the cluster off with some brown twine and enamels stars. I like to keep all of my clusters cohesive so I tend to used similar embellishments in each of my clusters.
That's all there is to it! I hope I have inspired you to get out all of your travel photos and make some fun layouts using this super versatile and super fun line! Thanks for stopping by today! Happy Crafting!
